Melissa Leaver is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC-LP) and Diversion Specialist at Silver Lake. Melissa specializes in crisis intervention; re-engaging with clients in the community as well as counseling individuals onsite. She works with clients who are overcoming mental illness in concurrence with substance abuse. Melissa worked with crisis recovery following Superstorm Sandy. She is trained in post-disaster cognitive behavioral therapy and DBT*. She provides psychoeducation** and culturally competent counseling to members of the LGBTQIA community.
Melissa was born and raised in Staten Island and received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of Staten Island, CUNY and her Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminology from Penn State University.
